Consider these points when determining applications for
the Eco-Flote System:
1. ECO-FLOTE™ IS BETTER THAN OTHER SYSTEMS
The unique features and benefits of the Eco-Flote System give
it distinct advantages over any other dock. It should always be
considered as a viable alternative to any stationary, roll-in,
or floating dock. (For more details, see the sections of this
site called Features
and Benefits, Components, and Frequently
Asked Questions)
2. ECO-FLOTE™ IS IDEALLY SUITED FOR BODIES OF
WATER WITH:
- Changing Water Levels, such as rivers, reservoirs, lakes in
flowages, and tidal areas.
- Deep or Moving Water, where stationery docks cannot be anchored.
- Unstable or Unyielding Bottom Material, such as loose mud or
hard rock.
Stationary
docks are simply not practical in areas with changing water levels.
They need frequent readjustment to avoid being either submerged
or left "high & dry". Furthermore, as prime waterfront
real estate becomes scarce, people are building homes on sections
of lakeshore with loose muddy bottoms, hard rock bottoms and steep
drop-offs. These areas are also unsuitable for stationary docks.
Even with favorable bottom conditions, the piles and posts used
on stationary docks (and the wheels on roll-in docks) can sink,
settle and shift substantially through the course of one season.
Because unbalanced docks can pose safety hazards and compromise
functionality, they need frequent repairs and readjustments. In
addition, most stationary docks in northern climates need to be
disassembled and removed for the winter to avoid ice damage. During
the winter months, they are often stored along the shoreline,
or in the owner's back yard, where they often become eyesores
and take up valuable space.
The Eco-Flote system avoids these problems. Our system can be
anchored into any bottom material at any depth and will provide
a stable platform for boat mooring, swimming, sunbathing, and
other activities as it rides naturally with the ebbs and flows
of the water that supports it. And, unless the dock will be exposed
to large quantities of moving ice, it need not be removed for
the winter.
3. THE ECO-FLOTE SYSTEM™ PERFORMS BEST IN PROTECTED
AREAS.
Like
any floating system, Eco-Flote rides with the action of the water
that supports it. Therefore, it functions most effectively in
bodies of water that are relatively protected from harsh winds,
turbulent waters and moving ice. It is recommended that Eco-Flote
docks be installed in bays, harbors, backwaters or other locations
buffered by natural barriers (such as reefs, shoals or islands)
or by fabricated barriers (such as cribs, breakwaters or wave
attenuators). For optimum performance Eco-Flote docks should not
be installed in locations with more than 1/2 mile of open water
between the dock (lift, swimming raft, floating boardwalk, etc.)
and the opposite shoreline- nor in rivers with extreme currents
or heavy flows of ice.
